Tips for Getting the Word Out

The 2025 Game Developers Conference is coming up, and we’re encouraging every speaker to promote their sessions through their social networks. Feel free to follow along with this step-by-step guide, designed to help you get the word out on social media—which means more eyes on your upcoming talk!  

Twitter/X / Bluesky / Threads / Instagram 

  • Find the link to your talk on Session Viewer to feature in your post. You’re also encouraged to include an image of yourself, your game, or a speaker promo card. 
  • In the copy of your social post, include your session title and topic, along withthe hashtags for your topic (e.g. #Audio or #Programming) and#GDC2025.  
  • Tag GDC on Twitter/X, Bluesky, Threads, Instagram so we can track and repost! Tagging us on Bluesky will also enable us to add you to our Speaker Starter Pack lists.  
  • You’re encouraged to tag or hashtag your game (e.g. @alanwake or #AlanWake2), and your studio/company if appropriate (e.g. @remedygames or #RemedyGames).  
  • Ideal days to post are Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM PT. Though anytime is a good time to share!  
  • EXAMPLE: I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be speaking at @Official_GDC on developing an audio vision for #AlanWake2!   • First: Connect with GDC Admin and RSVP for the GDC 2025 LinkedIn Event, so we can add you to our rotating list of featured speakers! 
  • Find the link to your talk on Session Viewer to feature in your post. You’re also encouraged to include an image of yourself, your game, or a speaker promo card. 
  • In the copy of your social post, include your session title and topic, along withthe hashtags for your topic (e.g. #Audio or #Programming), target audience (e.g. #gamedev, #gamecareer, #voiceactor, #leadership, #mentoring), and #GDC2025.

TikTok / YouTube Shorts / Instagram Stories/Reels 

  • Record a video of yourself discussing and promoting your talk. GDC attendees love to hear directly from our speakers! 0:30-1:00 is best (YouTube Shorts can’t be longer than 1-minute), but feel free to expand! 
  • In the copy of yourvideo, include your session title and topic, along withthe hashtags for your topic (e.g. #Audio or #Programming), target audience (e.g. #gamedev, #gamecareer, #voiceactor, #leadership, #mentoring), applicable trending/popular hashtags (e.g. #videogames) and #GDC2025. 
  • Tag GDC onTikTok, YouTube, or Instagram so we can engage, stitch, and repost. You’re also encouraged to tag your studio/company if appropriate.  
  • Ideal times to post on weekdays is 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM PT, along with Saturdays from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM PT. Though any time is a good time to post!
