Event Details

When and where will the Game Developers Conference 2021 take place?

GDC 2021 will be a virtual event, hosted on the Swapcard platform starting Monday, July 19 through Friday, July 23, 2021.


What are the details for my pass that was transferred to GDC 2021?

What is the GDC Masterclass program?

The GDC Masterclass program is comprised of day-long or multi-day, small-group virtual workshops that deliver in-depth, hands-on training around some of the most important challenges facing game developers today.


When will the next round of GDC Masterclass courses be offered?

Registration for GDC Masterclass courses is now closed. Subscribe to the official GDC Newsletter to receive the latest updates about GDC Masterclass courses.


How will I access the GDC Masterclass program?

All GDC Masterclass courses will be hosted on Zoom. After registering, you will be sent instructions on how to use and access the platform via email in the weeks leading up to your class.


Is there a group discount for GDC Masterclass?

Yes, register 3 or more attendees for 10% off your group's registration. The discount cannot be combined with any other promo codes or discounts and cannot be applied to previously confirmed registrations. If you have any questions, please email [email protected].

Does GDC have a code of conduct?

Yes. GDC is committed to providing a friendly, safe, and welcoming environment for all regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, ethnicity, or religion. The GDC Code of Conduct outlines expectations for participant behavior and consequences for unacceptable behavior.


How can I request assistance in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act?

If you require special assistance, auxiliary aids, interpreters or other reasonable accommodations while at the conference and/or expo, please contact Michelle Montoya at least four weeks prior to the event date.

When/where will conference sessions, dates, and times be available?

GDC will begin adding sessions for 2021 in the months leading up to the event.


What speaking opportunities are available at GDC?

The GDC Advisory Board is no longer accepting submissions for the GDC 2021 conference program.

Core Concepts Call for Submissions closed January 11, 2021 at 11:59pm PT.

GDC Summits, Virtual Reality Developers Conference (VRDC), and the Game Career Seminar call for submissions closed February 15, 2021 at 11:59pm PT.


Can I watch GDC sessions after the event?

Yes. GDC records most sessions and makes them available to view online throughout the year in the GDC Vault.


What happened to the Game Developers Conference 2020?

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we made the difficult decision to postpone GDC 2020. Thanks to submissions from many of the speakers who had talks planned for GDC 2020, we were able to stream recorded versions of their GDC sessions on March 16-20, 2020. Virtual awards ceremonies for The Independent Games Festival (IGF) and Game Developers Choice Awards (GDCA) and a virtualized 2020 edition of the Day of the Devs showcase were also streamed on March 18, 2020.

All the pre-recorded GDC 2020 videos are now available to watch on GDC Vault for free.


What is GDC doing to ensure in-person events will be safe to attend?

GDC has adopted a new set of enhanced health and safety standards for all in-person events.
