Press registration for GDC is by invitation only. Please note that prior GDC event attendance does not guarantee an invite to GDC. For all press inquiries, please contact the GDC Press Team. For members of the press who are newer to the video game/tech beat and wish to receive an invitation to register for a press badge, please contact the GDC Press Team and be prepared to provide the following credentials:
- Three editorial/published pieces that you have authored within the past year relevant to the video game industry, virtual reality, or a related game development topic
- Your business card at the media outlet you are representing
- An assignment letter on letterhead from your assigning editor/producer
- For blogs, podcasts, YouTube channels, and streamers: Third-party verification of the count of your monthly visitors, readers or viewers/listeners
Legitimate news media with approved credentials and media badges whose only intention is to gather film clips for a newscast can receive special clearance to film onsite at the Moscone Convention Center, with restrictions.
Please note that there are limitations (even for media badge holders) for filming or recording at the Moscone Center, and filming or recording of GDC content/sessions is strictly prohibited.
Documentary film crews are not considered legitimate news media and therefore union regulations require hiring a Local 16 IATSE representative, in addition to gaining filming approvals from the GDC organizers via the GDC Press Team.
GDC reserves the right to approve all filming and recording within the Moscone Center during the event. Learn more about filming guidelines, including how to hire a labor technician/union representative.
