Gamasutra Is Now Game Developer

Everyone give a warm welcome to Game Developer!

Gamasutra—the organization that has brought the latest in video game industry news, opinion, and developer insight—has rebranded as Game Developer (www.gamedeveloper.com). The site made its debut today. Taking its name from Game Developer's sister print publication (which is currently out-of-print), Game Developer boasts a new look and feel with the same committment to quality journalism.

"While the Gamasutra brand will sincerely hold a special place in our hearts, we're beyond excited for this new chapter in the life of this publication that we love dearly, and look forward to sharing with you, learning from you, and hopefully, helping you make better games," publisher Kris Graft said in a statement.

In an editorial posted Monday, Graft shared how this change has been a long time coming. Not only was the name "Gamasutra" outdated, but the entire website was due for an upgrade. The new homepage is sleeker and easier to navigate than its predecessor, with more features and upgrades arriving in the weeks to come. Graft also provided an update on staff promotions: Alissa McAloon is now editor-in-chief, Bryant Francis is senior editor, and Chris Kerr is news editor.

“I’m incredibly thrilled for the opportunity to build upon Gamasutra’s legacy and help steer Game Developer’s future," McAloon said in a statement. "Our name and look have changed, but our goals remain the same: to inspire, educate, and inform the wider game development community. We hope these changes allow us to better work with developers to help share their experiences, knowledge, and journeys throughout the game industry and beyond.”

Launch day is just the beginning: Developers, researchers, and industry insiders can look forward to a slew of new offerings on Game Developer in the weeks to come. These upcoming features include more opportunities for sponsor partners, a new content management system for community bloggers, improved job board experience, and Symposium-style mini virtual events. You can also expect to see Game Developers Conference news and updates, includes information about the upcoming GDC 2022 in-person and virtual hybrid event.
