Let's Make This a Fantastic Day 2 at GDC 2023

It's time for Day 2 of the Game Developers Conference! Tuesday features even more summits, sessions, sponsored summits, and special events for our attendees. 

You can pick up your badge between 8:00am and 6:00pm at registration, located in South Hall, Street Level. Be sure to complete your registration and log into Swapcard so you can start learning and networking. 

There is a rain forecast today in San Francisco—head here to see the latest weather updates. We recommend bringing an umbrella and/or rain jacket, and comfortable, weather-resistant shoes. Conference Associates will have umbrellas and rain gear available for attendees as needed. 

Sessions start at 9:30am today, but make sure you squeeze in a 15-minute WITHIN meditation beforehand in Room 214 (South Hall) at 9am. For those joining us for the first time, or want a GDC refresher, be sure to join us for GDC 101 at 5:30pm! More details below.

Educators Summit: Incorporating Black Game Studies in the Classroom: Benefits to Everyone

Location: Room 2014, West Hall
Time: 9:30 am - 10:30 am

Description: "This panel helps educators at all levels understand content and strategies for incorporating Black Game Studies in their classrooms. The goal is to help diversify the education of games, reach a wider student audience, and support faculty engaging in equitable conversations about games and their impact on society."

Technical Artist Summit: 'Mix Universe': The Tech Behind Bringing Music to the Universe

Location: Room 3005, West Hall
Time: 10:50 am - 11:50 am

Description: "Chris Zuko, Technical Director at Terrible Posture Games, will share all the gritty details behind what it takes to make something like Mix Universe, a node-based musical sandbox in Unreal where all of the audio visuals are real-time."

Independent Games Summit: Finding Inspiration and Planning Luck: A Story of a Solo Dev-Dad of Color

Location: Room 2009, West Hall
Time: 1:20 pm - 1:50 pm

Description: "Adam will share insightful and entertaining stories for how he went from being a solo game dev hobbyist to landing a publishing deal with Humble Games."

Free-to-Play Summit: 'Roblox' Economics: A Fireside Chat with Gamefam CEO Joe Ferencz

Location: Room 2016, West Hall
Time: 1:20 pm - 1:50 pm

Description: "In this session, Deconstructor of Fun host Ethan Levy interviews Joe Ferencz, CEO of the #1 game developer on the Roblox platform, about his experience running Gamefam. Ethan and Joe discuss what it's like running a massively scaled business, with over 25MM players daily players and 30 live games, on Roblox."

Audio Summit: Building Audio Careers, Together

Location: Room 3002, West Hall
Time: 2:10 pm - 2:40 pm

Description: "In this presentation, ZW Buckley, Composer at Plant Based Audio, will discuss how collaboration can benefit your game audio career casually, communally, and commercially."

GDC 101

Location: Room 3004, West Hall
Time: 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Description: "A crash course in GDC for first-timers! Get the most out of your experience by learning the ins and outs of the show, from choosing sessions, to networking, to simply how to get around. GDC is a big event with lots to do, and we're here to help you prioritize what you really want to get out of the show, while getting all the basics down in the process. Plus there's a networking event right after the session!"
