The GDC team strongly believes that diversity of perspective, ideas and experience is key to the success of the game industry and have made it our mission to champion underrepresented voices and create a safe space for all.
We were saddened to hear of women reporting instances of harassment during GDC last week, particularly the serious allegations of drink spiking at a social event unaffiliated with GDC. We absolutely condemn this behavior and extend our full support and sympathies to the victims.
At GDC, we take our responsibility to provide a secure and welcoming environment on site very seriously. We enforce a strict code of conduct and over 400 members of the GDC team are available and visible throughout the event to assist participants, provide security and escort attendees where necessary.
The vast majority of our community continues to uphold the values of respect and dignity that we all expect. Nevertheless, we want to do more to ensure GDC is a welcoming and inclusive place and are currently reviewing our prevention and safety measures and exploring proactive initiatives to ensure our work to create an inclusive community goes from strength to strength.
We look forward to bringing our informed community back together in March 2024.
