GDC Showcase is elevating our virtual networking experience with Gather, a video chat platform that lets attendees create personalized avatars and navigate an exciting digital environment during open networking hours. Click here for a list of hotkeys for finding your way around effectively, and below is a video with details on how to use the site (keep in mind that the avatar design settings have been updated since this video was posted).
Upon entering the GDC Showcase hub, attendees will discover a wide array of networking opportunities, including:
Themed Networking Hubs: Engage in focused discussions at our specialized group tables, each dedicated to specific disciplines and interests within the game industry.
- Speed Networking: Due to popular demand, we're hosting two virtual speed networking sessions during GDC Showcase, one on Thursday and another on Friday. These are 45-minute virtual sessions with attendees rotating around the virtual room. No pre-registration is required and attendance is first come, first served.
Seamless Interaction: Joining a conversation is as simple as approaching a table, instantly connecting you with industry peers and potential collaborators.
Flexible Communication Options: Tailor your networking experience to your comfort level with a variety of interaction methods:
- Video conferencing for face-to-face connections
- Audio chat for voice-only discussions
- Text-based communication for those who prefer typing
Unique Networking Spaces
- Fountain Plaza: A vibrant area for casual encounters and spontaneous discussions
- Virtual Fireside Lounge: An intimate setting perfect for more in-depth conversations
- Private Tables: For those seeking more focused interactions, a limited number of tables are available for either duo or small group discussions.
For those wanting to have some fun, head to our rooftop games pavilion—featuring a fully playable arcade, group games like One Night Werewolf and poker, video game trivia, and a Silent Disco!
GDC Showcase attendees will be required to follow our GDC Code of Conduct during their time in the virtual networking space. If a participant engages in unacceptable behavior, the conference organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, up to and including expulsion from the virtual event without warning or refund. GDC staff members will be on-hand to address any questions, concerns, or reports of inappropriate behavior.
